About

My name is Fred. I teach in the Boston suburbs of New England. I arrived late to the classroom, about a decade later than the most common path. Of course, teaching might be the hardest job I have ever had, but it is unquestionably the most fun and definitely the most rewarding.

With a background in theatre and film, I spent years working in the entertainment industry after finishing at university. Additionally, while working as a professional actor, I moonlighted as a technology consultant, specializing in software training and broadband network video, long before anyone dreamed of YouTube.

I always knew I wanted to become a teacher, but knew I wouldn’t be ready to do it immediately. Eventually, I took all my experiences and headed back to school to get certified, becoming an English teacher. It has allowed me to teach an array of classes in a rich mix of formats, including face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and completely online. I have also been fortunate enough to teach journalism and media production, as well as serving as a technology integration coordinator for a time. The transition to teaching has been extraordinary.
